Capital Clothing Show

Evening readers
To begin, a couple shout outs!
We would like to thank everyone for coming out to the Capital Clothing Show at the Fieldhouse this past weekend. The turnout was amazing, not to mention some of the beautiful vintage fineries we were able to swoon over (and purchase, ha!)

Here are a couple pics from the event:

The stylish Ms. Mary Ann Harris' Vintage Clothing Booth

I know what your thinking, the astro turf green really brings out the glitz and glamour. However, the race track set up did put us in the mood to dash and hurdle which, let me tell you, are necessary skills when a girl is battling others for some of those vintage pieces!

Hard at work, modeling some of Mary Ann's clothes

If you missed out don't fret! Mary Ann's booth is open 7 days a week at the Ottawa Antique Market (1179A Bank Street), you can also visit her website http://www.reclectica.com/ . She has many, many more vintage treasures at her booth so check her out!

We will be updating soon with more information about other vintage clothing sales that are happening in Ottawa over the next few months.

The Swinger

The 60's "cool cat" could be seen dancing the Frug or the Pony at the grooviest spots in town, at a backyard barbecue or serving fondue Laura Petrie-style for a house full of guests. Twister anyone?

There is not much that could make weekends better, that is except for a charming weekend guest who brings her whimsical vintage clothing collection for me to swoon over; with clothes like that, the girl was left with no choice but to pose for a few snapshots.

The Pre-Raphaelites

Following our everlasting addiction to vintage clothing, Ashley and I pooled our favourite pieces from our own collections and fell in love all over again. We met our photographer, John Smith, by the Ottawa River and transformed our models, Blythe Cronyn and Julia Burpee into turn of the century nymphs. The atmosphere seemed almost too perfect: sunlight, overpowering sweet smell of wildflowers, and butterflies searching for shoulders to perch upon. If only real life could be like an Alphonse Mucha print.
